Sustainability policy
We use film as a tool to understand the world and each other better. Every year, we screen titles that highlight sustainability, engagement in environmental matters and the challenges that lie ahead. As a film festival, we work continuously to reduce our climate footprint and to work as sustainably as we can.
Food and recycling
At all festival locations there is the possibility of waste sorting and recycling.
Travel and accommodation
As a national and international meeting place, travel is our biggest challenge. For national guests, we offer travel to PLAY by train. We also primarily offer our international guests to travel by train. When this option is not possible, we choose flight departures with the least emissions and try to combine them with trains if possible. Transport to and from airports is by train or carpooling.
We encourage everyone who travels and visits PLAY to choose a sustainable alternative as they can – above all public transport and fossil-free transport. The same policy covers our trips to other festivals.
Festival material & printed matter
Our program magazine is printed by the printing company Åtta45, which is both Svanen-certified* and climate compensates all printed material via Southpole**. We have reduced the printed edition of our festival programme and have focused on a more selective distribution – a distribution which is done with electric cargo bikes in Malmö.
We work actively to minimize the number of printed items and produce only those that we can reuse for several years.
